Legal
Subscription Terms
Version 1.1 · In effect from 19 September 2026
These terms explain the Vercro plans, and how paying for Vercro Pro works. They add to our Terms of Use. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
At a glance
- Free is a genuine plan, not a trial. No card, no time limit on the plan: 3 gardens, unlimited crops, 25 Ask Vercro questions and 5 Plant Checks a month.
- Pro is £4.99 a month or £39 a year on our website: unlimited gardens, 300 Ask Vercro questions and 30 Plant Checks a month.
- Pro renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time in Manage subscription; Pro carries on until the end of the period you paid for.
- Changed your mind? Cancel within 14 days of starting a new subscription on our website for a full refund.
- Founding subscribers keep their price for as long as their subscription continues.
- Allowances reset at midnight UK time on the 1st of each month. Checks that fail on our side don't count.
01What these terms cover
In short: The Free plan, and Pro subscriptions bought on our website or in an app store.
These terms apply to everyone with a Vercro account, and set out extra terms for Vercro Pro. If you buy Pro on our website, your contract is with Vercro Ltd and payment is taken by our payment provider, Stripe. If you buy Pro in the Apple App Store or Google Play, section 13 applies too. If these terms and the Terms of Use differ about a subscription, these terms apply.
02The Free plan
In short: Free is a real plan with real limits, stated clearly. It is not a trial and needs no card.
- Free is not a free trial. It is not limited to a trial period and never turns into a paid subscription unless you choose to subscribe.
- You don't need to give card details to use Free.
- Free includes unlimited crops, plantings, beds, areas and seasons; Today, Why now?, Boost, Garden and the Garden plan on every location you have, Crops, Record and your growing history, with no meter; up to 3 growing locations; 25 Ask Vercro questions and 5 Plant Checks each calendar month.
- If you already had more than 3 locations on Free before these terms, you keep them all and they stay fully usable. You can't add another until you are under the limit or on Pro.
03What Pro includes
In short: Everything in Free, plus unlimited locations and larger monthly AI allowances.
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Crops, plantings, beds and areas, seasons | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Today, Why now?, Boost, Garden and Garden plan, Crops, Record and history | Included, no meter | Included, no meter |
| Growing locations | Up to 3 | Unlimited |
| Ask Vercro questions | 25 per calendar month | 300 per calendar month |
| Plant Check photo checks | 5 per calendar month | 30 per calendar month |
What Pro includes may improve over time. If we reduce it significantly, section 10 of our Terms of Use applies.
04Monthly allowances and fair limits
In short: Allowances run by calendar month, UK time. Failed requests don't count, and unused allowance doesn't carry over.
- A month means a calendar month in UK time (Europe/London). Allowances reset at 00:00 UK time on the 1st of each month. The app shows how many you have left and when they reset.
- One Ask Vercro question counts when you send it and get an answer. One Plant Check counts each time a photo is checked.
- If a question or check fails because of a problem on our side or our AI provider's, it does not count. If you retry the same request, you are not charged twice.
- Unused allowance does not carry over to the next month.
- When you reach an allowance, the feature pauses until the next reset (or until you move to Pro, if you are on Free). Everything else in Vercro keeps working.
- These allowances are the fair-use limits for these features. We may also briefly slow or pause unusually rapid or automated activity to protect the service; that never reduces your monthly allowance.
05Prices
In short: Pro on our website is £4.99 a month or £39 a year. The price you see is the price you pay.
| Pro on our website | Price | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | £4.99 | Every month from the day you subscribe |
| Yearly | £39 | Every year from the day you subscribe |
- Prices are in pounds sterling and the price shown is the total you pay, including any VAT. There are no set-up or extra fees.
- We will always show the price and how often you will be charged before you pay.
- Prices in the Apple App Store and Google Play are set in those stores and may differ from our website prices.
- We don't currently offer discount codes on our website.
06Founding and earlier subscribers
In short: If you subscribed at an earlier price, you keep it. Founding subscribers' price will not go up for as long as the subscription continues.
Founding price (£2.99 a month or £29 a year)
In April 2026 we offered early users a founding price of £2.99 a month or £29 a year, "locked in for as long as you stay subscribed". We keep that promise. If you have a subscription at that price:
- your price will not go up for as long as that subscription continues, including when these or our other terms change;
- you get everything Pro includes, including anything added later;
- a failed payment does not end the founding price while your subscription is still active and payment is being retried;
- if the subscription is cancelled and ends, and you later subscribe again, the price at that time applies.
Other earlier prices
If you subscribed at another earlier price (for example £4.99 or £5.99 a month), you keep paying that price for now. If we ever change it, section 15 applies: we will tell you at least 30 days before and you can cancel before it takes effect.
07Paying and automatic renewal
In short: You pay at the start of each month or year, and Pro renews automatically until you cancel.
- On our website you pay by card through Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Your first payment is taken when you subscribe, and Pro starts straight away.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and the same card is charged the same price (unless you have been told of a change under section 15), until you cancel.
- You can see your renewal date and price, update your card and download receipts in Manage subscription in the app.
- A receipt for each payment is available in Manage subscription.
08Renewal reminders
In short: We'll email you before a yearly renewal, and regularly about monthly ones.
- Yearly subscriptions bought on our website: we will email you at least 14 days before each renewal, with the renewal date, the price and how to cancel.
- Monthly subscriptions bought on our website: we will email you a reminder of the price and how to cancel at least once every six months, starting no later than when the new UK subscription rules come into force.
- Reminders are service emails, so they are sent even if you have switched off optional emails.
09If a payment fails
In short: Pro keeps working while we retry, and we'll tell you. If payment can't be taken, you move to Free and nothing is deleted.
- If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will try again over the following days and we will let you know, with a link to update your card.
- Pro keeps working while payment is being retried.
- If payment still can't be taken, the subscription ends and your account moves to Free (see section 14). Your garden, records and photos are never deleted because a payment failed.
10Cancelling
In short: Cancel any time in Manage subscription. Pro continues until the end of the period you paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- On our website or web app: go to Profile, then Your plan, then Manage subscription, and choose cancel. It takes a minute and you don't need to contact us. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
- App Store: cancel in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
- Google Play: cancel in the Play Store app, under Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- When you cancel, Pro continues until the end of your current month or year, and you are not charged again. Apart from section 11, cancelling does not refund the current period.
- Deleting your account cancels a web subscription straight away: Pro ends with the account and you are not charged again. Apart from section 11, this does not refund the current period. Deleting your account cannot cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Cancel that in your store settings, as above.
11Your 14-day right to cancel
In short: If you start a new Pro subscription on our website, you can cancel within 14 days and get a full refund.
The law gives you 14 days to cancel a new subscription bought online. When you subscribe, you ask us to start Pro straight away, during those 14 days, so you can use it immediately.
Our promise: if you cancel a new Pro subscription bought on our website within 14 days of your first payment, we will refund that payment in full, even though you have been able to use Pro. Email hello@vercro.com or tell us in any other clear way, for example by letter to 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. You can also use this wording if you like: "I cancel my Vercro Pro subscription, started on [date]. Name, email address, date." We refund to the card you paid with within 14 days of hearing from you, and your account moves to Free.
Yearly renewals. If your yearly subscription renews and you tell us within 14 days of the renewal that you want to cancel, we will refund the renewal payment, less a proportionate amount for the days of Pro you had after the renewal date.
12Refunds
In short: Beyond section 11, we refund where the law says so, where we are at fault, and sometimes where it's simply fair.
- If Pro is not provided with reasonable care and skill or as described, you have legal rights to have it put right or to a price reduction or refund.
- If we significantly reduce what Pro includes, close your account without you being at fault, or close Vercro, we refund payment for the time you can no longer use.
- Otherwise, cancelling stops future payments but does not refund the current period. If something has gone wrong for you, email us: we look at every request and may refund where it is fair.
- App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by Apple or Google under their rules (section 13).
13Buying in the App Store or Google Play
In short: Apple or Google take the payment, set the store price, handle renewals, cancellations and refunds under their own rules.
- If you buy Pro in the App Store or Google Play, that store takes payment, sets the price shown in the store, and handles renewals, cancellations and refunds under its own terms.
- To ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com for Apple or the Google Play refund process. We cannot refund store purchases ourselves.
- Pro bought in a store works when you sign in to the same Vercro account on the web too.
- Everything else in these terms (what Pro includes, allowances, founding price) still applies.
14Moving between Free and Pro
In short: Moving never deletes anything. Allowances change straight away; this month's usage still counts.
- When you move to Pro, Pro allowances apply straight away, and what you have already used this month counts towards them.
- When Pro ends, Free allowances apply straight away. If you have already used more than the Free allowance this month, that feature pauses until the next reset.
- If you have more than 3 locations when Pro ends, you keep all of them and can still use them. You can't add another until you are back under 3 or on Pro.
- Your garden, records, photos, Plant Check history and Ask Vercro conversations are never deleted because your plan changes.
15Price changes
In short: We'll tell you at least 30 days before any price rise, and you can cancel first. Founding prices don't go up.
We may change the price of Pro for new subscribers at any time. For an existing subscription, we will email you at least 30 days before a price increase takes effect, and it will only apply from your next renewal after that notice. If you don't want to pay the new price, cancel before it applies. Founding prices under section 6 do not go up while the subscription continues.
